Not a safe place to live

Two incident that has happened in the same week and same apartment where there was an attempted break-in in the middle of the night, and someone throwing a huge rock at the window but the police and landlord can not do anything, especially when they are all girls living in that apartment luckily none of the girls got hurt. What makes it a not so safe place to live is that people can easily get into the apartment by yanking on the door to open without a key! Everyone made a complaint to management ...
to replace the door to be more secure so people won't be making a forceful entry, but the landlords never do anything about it and always make an excuse why they can't do it. Can I also add that this apartment is not a smoke-free apartment we can always smell our neighbors smoking in the apartment and when they do it travels through the whole building.
