      • Not what I expected

        September 26, 2023
        This place charges a ridiculous amount in move out fees. They said they would cover normal wear and tear. I took photos upon move out and it was clear everything looked good, yet I was still charged this insane amount. Everything in my unit was getting broken and required maintenance often which suggests that the place is quite old and required frequent maintenance. They charge high rent for quite an old place and I feel it's not worth what I paid here. I would not recommend this place.

      • Poor management

        The management shows a concerning lack of urgency in addressing fundamental problems with the dishwasher. Despite my repeated complaints about the foul odor emanating from stagnant water trapped within the dishwasher, they have yet to prioritize resolving the issue, even after a span of over 10 days. This establishment is far from conducive to maintaining a sanitary environment, especially for families with children.

        Onyx residents are friendly and maintenance crew is awesome. It is near by freeway and shopping areas, onyx comes under one of the best school districts in Washington. It has covered parking for residents which is nice during extreme hot or cold conditions.

        Onyx gives us a friendly environment, Staffs are good they immediately help and response. So many kids playing in the play area and will immediately makes new friends.         Onyx is a good to live in as it is close by freeways, shopping malls and 30 min drive to Seattle downtown. Maintenance team is nice and courteous. Couple of improvements will make this place more resident friendly: Bigger park for kids, more guest parking spots, Leasing team handling bigger parcels instead of keeping it outside and someone steals them.

There are proposals in place and we are keeping our fingers crossed that these projects are moved forward. Large parcels are required to go to the front door. Letter Carriers and package delivery drivers are instructed and given maps to direct it to you.

      • Save yourself- do not lease here

        I wish I could give zero stars.... I would not advise anyone to live anywhere owned or "managed" by Greystar, it was an absolute nightmare. WORST part of it all was the mold/mildew issues that started in the winter/rainy months.... after buying 2 air purifiers, damp-rid buckets, constantly wiping/cleaning windows and airing out the unit, nothing helped (have lived in the PNW 20+ years and never had this issue). Mildew and mold ruined bags full of shoes, clothes, hats, gloves, and our tempur-pedic ...
        mattress. We submitted photos and evidence to office management, and had been starting to get sick from the mold... and office management STILL would not move us to a new unit or let us leave the Onyx. They value making money more than their tenants health. To add to our horrible experience, the entire duration of our lease we dealt with extremely noisy neighbors upstairs- the buildings are very old, so you can hear EVERYTHING (I explicitly asked about noise issues during our initial apartment tour and the leasing agent lied and said there would not be problems in our unit). We begged office management to help relocate us/talk to the neighbors, nothing was done. Cherry on top next to the horrendous property "management" - they still made us pay more money when we moved out, Greystar accounts receivable did not really care what our living experience was like. The only thing this place has going for it is location, that has easy freeway/downtown Redmond access, and is across the street from Microsoft (they target tenants new to the area and sell you on the location). Please save yourself the agony and do not rent here (or anywhere else with Greystar).

        Being new to the US, our first rental experience was so good at Onyx. We had the tour to the community and booked the unit in no time. All the leasing formalities were simple, in 4 days, we moved to our home from our hotel stay. The people at the leasing office were so friendly and they ensured the unit had no issues when we move in. Even minor issues that we noticed were fixed so quickly. I really appreciate the management and service team at Onyx.
