The Deposit YIKES!

I'm looking for an apartment in the area and I looked at these. They were beautiful apartments, as was the common areas inside and out. The staff I dealt with were friendly and helpful. I would move in there tomorrow if it wasn't for one thing, the deposit. The deposit amount is $1250.00. Yikes! This is an affordable low income complex. giving away 2 months free rent but that doesn't help with the large deposit they want now. And this isn't a cost due to bad credit, this is just the cost of the deposit. Most luxury apartments don't have this high of a deposit. This is a 55 and over complex and it doesn't seem like there would be that much damage when someone moved out. Obviously, they can charge what they want to charge, but that amount seems unrealistic for low income people, such as myself.
