Explore Atlanta
Atlanta apartment life can seem like a zoo with all the possibilities of things to do and working or studying forty hours a week. You come home exhausted and not wanting to clean up the day to day clutter. The weather is great, so get outside and enjoy Zoo Atlanta. In March 1889 Zoo Atlanta got its start when a circus went bankrupt on its way to Marietta, Ga. The public was in "ah" of the exotic animals, so businessman George Valentine Gress purchased them. He donated the animals to the City of Atlanta soon after. This Atlanta attraction is conveniently located in Grant Park southeast of downtown Atlanta. Zoo Atlanta is one of two zoos that has Giant Pandas. On August 30, 2008 a Giant Panda named Lun gave birth to a cub. Is not that a good reason to visit this zoo! They have 25 mammal species, 13 bird species, and 8 species of reptiles and amphibians. After seeing all the animals you don't want to miss their many rides and attractions. Climb a 24-feet rock wall or relax while riding the Nabisco Endangered Species Carousel. Also take a ride on the Norfolk Southern Zoo Express Train that seats 100 adults or 140 children. And while parents catch their breathe kids can play on the now open playground. Zoo Atlanta offers educational programming as well: Night Crawler overnights, Zoo Nights, Dino Days and Safari Day Camps. Admission is adults $17.99, children 3-11 $12.99, children 2 and under free. senior citizens,Military, and college students pay $13.99. Stroll through Zoo Atlanta, enjoy the wonderful weather, and be refreshed outside of your apartment!
