Detroit is a bustling, busy city, with a busy downtown feel and plenty of commerce, so apartment residents who are looking for a chance to explore the beauty of nature can be out of luck most of the time. Detroit does have up its sleeves, however, a few ways to experience the joys and beauty of nature, one of most popular of which is the Detroit Zoo. Home to nearly seven thousand animals of nearly three hundred different species, so if you are an animal fan in Detroit, there's no reason for you not to make this one off your top stops. The zoo contains a number of different exhibits, each with their own some special. For those looking for the traditional animals of African, stop into the African Grassland to get your fill of giraffes, rhinoceri, zebras, wild dogs and aardvarks, as well as numerous wild African birds and other wildlife. Though looking for a trip down under just need to take a short walk to the Australian Outback Adventure, to check out all the kangaroos and wallabies, but not behind glass or bars, but face to face. For those who like their animals a little less furry, check out Amphibiville, a section devoted to our water-bound amphibian friends, including newts, toads, frogs (including a number of colorful, tropical varieties), salamanders, even mudpuppies and lungfish. They also have an Arctic Ring of Life exhibit, with its main attraction, their large, beautiful polar bears, but also includes arctic foxes, seals, and numerous cold-weather birds and small mammals. No matter what kind of animal is your favorite, you are sure to find what you are looking for here. If you want some more excitement during your stay at the park, there's also the Wilderness Adventure Ride, where you'll get to see the natural world from the point of view of a number of different animals, from amphibians, to mammals, to insects, all in thrilling motion-simulating seats. If you want something a little less intense, take a ride on the Tauber Family Railroad, which will take you through some of the exhibits of the park. No matter what you're in the mood for, there is always some fun to experience at the Detroit Zoo. Whether mammals are what you're craving, a little slimy amphibian fun, or just want to ride some rides, apartment-ites, kids and adults alike, will enjoy returning to nature, while also having a great time, at this Detroit landmark. So get out of your Detroit apartment and head out to the Detroit zoo and tell the monkies, lions, and bears hello for me!
