Lithia Springs Overview

Located in Douglas County, GA, Lithia Springs is as inviting as the mineral water the city takes its namesake from. Offering an enticing mix of modern convenience with classic southern charm, this ever-growing locale is an excellent choice for those eager to make a move to the Peach State.

What is the history of Lithia Springs?

Lithia Springs established itself in the late 1800s around the natural water source of the same name, and the 500 room Sweet Water Hotel opened soon after. Rumor has it that royalty and Mark Twain both visited the resort to sample the supposed healing properties of the springs, and by 1888 well over 30,000 people had traveled to the city for the famed mineral water. Covering almost 14 square miles, Lithia Springs today remains a relaxed, nature-heavy city with a colorful history.

How is the weather in Lithia Springs?

Spring and fall tends to be comfortable if a tad rainy, while the summers in Georgia are highlighted by humid and hot days and fairly breeze-free nights. Winter is generally lacking in snow and ice, although temperatures have occasionally been known to drop below the freezing mark in rare instances.

How do I get around town?

A majority of those living in Lithia Springs apartments rely upon a car or truck to get around, and bus service is very limited. Bicycling has become popular in recent years, and while taxis can be found they are not common. Atlanta marks the largest airport in the region, with international and domestic flights available daily. Rail service is not offered in the city currently.

What is the Lithia Springs commute like?

Lithia Springs is a relaxed way of life, and that extends largely to its traffic patterns as well. U.S. Highway 78 acts as the primary roadway in the city, with numerous rural roads criss-crossing the downtown scene as well. For those commuting outside the city limits, traffic tends to move at a brisk pace until close proximity to the hub of Atlanta or other major metropolitan areas.

What are the local media outlets?

The 'Douglas County Sentinel' is a major source of city news, with radio a mix of national sport talk, classic rock and country. Television can be somewhat limited compared to Atlanta and other major markets, but most affiliates of primary networks are still readily available to residents of Lithia Springs apartments.

Why live in Lithia Springs, GA?

The famous mineral waters can be found still in health stores across the nation, and Lithia Springs retains a positive reputation among healthy living advocates for its storied history. Offering intimate local schools that consistently earn high marks, and a laid back, carefree way of life that is increasingly rare even in Georgia, Lithia Springs is an excellent place to live and work.

What Lithia Springs landmarks should I see?

Sweetwater Creek State Park is far and away the most popular recreational area, comprised of a number of hiking trails, scenic paths and the relic of the famed Manchester Mill. The Hagler Public Library is another popular locale, complete with thousands of literary treasures, and Deer Lick Park offers sporting fields as well as an amphitheater.

What is there to do around Lithia Springs?

Spend a scream-filled weekend at the thrill rides of Six Flags Over Georgia, or enjoy a double feature at the Old Lithia Springs Drive-In. Fred's BBQ House is a mandatory stop for any rib fan, and Trapeze acts as the primary nightlife hotspot in the city. The Douglas County Museum of Art is yet another excellent place to immerse in local culture, conveniently located near an assortment of apartments in Lithia Springs.

Any annual festivals or Lithia Springs events to know?

The Fall Jonquil Festival offers live music and food vendors, and July 4th is a fireworks-filled celebration every summer. A Taste of Atlanta is worth the drive for foodies, and Halloween in Lithia Springs always results in a parade or two.

Where are the nearby vacation spots?

Georgia is flush with hiking, camping and boating excitement for those eager to get back to nature, with the live music scene of Athens only a few hours away as well. The scenic coast of South Carolina beckons those with a true road trip jones, and Tennessee's juke joints and museums lie only a few hours to the north-west.

Where is the best place to move in Lithia Springs?

Ideal for families, Lithia Springs apartments are offered in a variety of locations and budget ranges. From spacious four-bedroom units close to area schools, to cozy two-bedroom layouts within walking distance of the center of town, Lithia Springs apartments are ready to please. Start your search today, and start discovering what life in Georgia is truly all about!
