"Denton, Texas is a great place to live, and if you have an apartment there and you are looking for a really good University to attend, then TWU is your place to go. Founded in 1901, TWU began as The Girls Industrial College and was renamed Texas Woman's University in 1957. The mission of the university is to provide a liberal education and prepare young women ""for the practical industries of the age"" with specialized education. If you are an incoming freshman, the university recommends but does not require that you live on campus. The rationale is that it takes time for a new college student to become adapted to the social and academic challenges of moving to a new location. If you choose to live off of campus, the community of Denton is very welcoming and there are plenty of options in apartment living. One of the perks of living off of campus is that you can price shop and sometimes find really great deals on apartment living. Many of the complexes have privacy fences with security gates! Very Cool! A great community, a great school, in a great location!"
