NOW is what the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans highlights in its offerings of art exhibits, performance arts and educational programs. New Orleans apartment residents can view visual arts exhibitions that come and go on a rotating basis, showcasing unique and eclectic works in all sorts of mediums by local, national and internationally renowned artists, in a 10,000+ square foot space, all illuminated by natural light. Check the CAC schedule to see performances ranging from urban dance theatre to legendary jazz master series to avant-garde classical and everything in between. A children's gallery, for the young and the young at heart offers creative art workshops, summer arts camp, field trips, and a variety of lecture series and learning programs. Year round, attend the CAC's exciting and fun special events, including two of the largest art happenings and outdoor celebrations in New Orleans, NOADA's White Linen Night (always the first Saturday in August) and Art for Arts' Sake (always the first Saturday in October). In a party town like New Orleans, events like SweetArts and Bourbon & Burlesque of the CAC are a sidetrack from traditional arts benefits. Prospect.1, the largest biennial of international contemporary art ever organized in the United States, has been hosted at the CAC, showing the magnitude of the following at the museum. Four floors of art are displayed, with 20 artists. And this is just one of the many offerings of the museum. The visual arts exhibit is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 am to 6 pm, so take off early from work or come by on the weekend for a contemporary art sampling. Admission is cheap, $5 for adults and $3 for children, but if you and possibly friends of yours in your New Orleans apartment become a member, the admission is free. Sometimes admission to the gallery is free altogether. The CAC lead the way for the transformation of New Orleans' downtown Warehouse District in 1976, to the vibrant cultural hub it is today, and is the Warehouse Arts District's focal point and a home to dramatic contemporary art. 30,000 plus square feet make up the center, in an old 1905 warehouse that was renovated in 1990. It's a great mix of the Crescent City's historic architecture and the modern art movement. If you or your business needs or wants to host a unique event, the CAC is available to rent for any type of private and public event, for as little as 10 guests, and as many as 3,500 guests. Could your New Orleans apartment complex host a party here? Why not?
