The Observatory Condominiums were converted in 2003 from an historic stone mansion and adjoining school. This unit is in the mansion section and has a unique shape and layout found only in this particular unit. You enter through the private foyer that includes a coat closet into the magnificent living room with high ceilings, gleaming hardwood floors, new track lighting and an electric fireplace which will heat up the room on cool nights and days. The sunny kitchen has cherry cabinets, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and a decorative tiled backsplash. The washer and dryer were new in 2024. The hot water heater was replaced in 2023 and the refrigerator was new in 2021. It's an easy walk or bus ride east to the Metra and to the express bus to the Loop. The University of Chicago and Hospitals are less than 10 blocks south. Mandrake Park is a few blocks north with its running track. The new pedestrian bridge to the lakefront and Oakwood Beach and Marina is a few blocks northeast and there is a bridge to the lakefront at 47th St as well. So lovely to watch the boats and enjoy the lake. The Bronzeville Winery is two short blocks away and is wowing the Chicago food critics. It is also a music venue with live music and DJs. There is Senegalese food down 47th St at Goree Cuisine and close by is Carver 47 Food and Wellness Market. Just west is Two Fish Crab Shack. Barbecue, coffee shops, and other places to eat and hang out are popping up nearby. The lush Drexel Boulevard parkway has recently refurbished paths for shady walks. It is a mere 10 minute drive to the Loop along the majestic Lake Shore Drive. You have your own HVAC unit and hot water heater with individual controls so you can always enjoy the temperature you like with no one else sharing your hot water. Experienced landlord is also a licensed designated managing broker in Illinois. The management of the building requires an application form and a refundable $500 move deposit.
