Golden, CO is a former gold rush town, founded in 1859. Known as the “last flat place” before the Rocky mountains, it was a prominent center for supplies for miners. In particular, Golden brought gold miners to Clear Creek and coal miners to the surrounding mountains. Other industries grew as miners and their families settled in the area. Farming, clay extraction, paper production, brick making, flour milling, and beer brewing are just a few of the most prominent industries that took root here. Today, you can easily take an audio-guided tour of the historical sights of the city or you can take various niche tours rich with storytelling and activities.

By bus or car, this will be a 20-30 minute drive.

Keep up to date with local news through The Golden Transcript newspaper, Denver7 News on television and online, Golden Community Television, KOAQ-FM Denver, and KHOW-FM Denver.

It offers all the opportunities of a large city yet offers more safety and security than a major urban area.
