Write a ReviewGolden is one of the most gorgeous places to live in Colorado. Located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, this well-developed city is just outside of Denver. Although there is plenty to do and see within Golden, it surprisingly only has a population of around 20,000. Accordingly, you will experience a close-knit community with a thriving culture and rich history. Moreover, Golden is well-known for being an exceptional suburb for young professionals as there are plenty of job opportunities here and in Denver. That said, it is also ranked as a wonderful place for families thanks to the schools, parks, and overall safety.
Golden, CO is a former gold rush town, founded in 1859. Known as the “last flat place” before the Rocky mountains, it was a prominent center for supplies for miners. In particular, Golden brought gold miners to Clear Creek and coal miners to the surrounding mountains. Other industries grew as miners and their families settled in the area. Farming, clay extraction, paper production, brick making, flour milling, and beer brewing are just a few of the most prominent industries that took root here. Today, you can easily take an audio-guided tour of the historical sights of the city or you can take various niche tours rich with storytelling and activities.
