The Littleton Public School district is one of the top in the nation, and there are plenty of cultural and outdoor attractions in Littleton and the greater Denver area.
A part of the Denver Metro Area, Littleton, CO started out as a Gold Rush city in the late 1800s. It grew again during the “Space Race” in the 1960s, and is today part of what is considered the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood area.
Like most of Denver area, the weather in Littleton is pleasant to most inhabitants, and doesn’t tend towards either extreme. While snow is common every year, ice is rare, and sub-zero temperatures are almost unheard of. Temperatures normally aren’t any worse than the mid-20s in the winter or the mid-80s during summer.
Most Littleton residents have cars, but you don’t absolutely need one—the town itself covers less than 14 square miles. It is connected to the greater Denver area via a light rail system. If you’ve never seen the light rail, it looks like a cross between a train and a bus!
Littleton lies just on the east of the South-Central Denver Metro area. Highway 470 runs along the south of Littleton and the entire metro, as well as the northeast quarter of the region. Highway 85 runs through Littleton directly to the heart of Denver.
While Littleton doesn’t have any TV stations of its own, it is served by nine outlets in Denver alone, and several more in the surrounding area. Denver and the surrounding area provides more than 30 radio stations—everything from Public Radio, to Christian Contemporary, Sports, Classical, Talk Radio, Alternative, and Hip-Hop.
Whether you’re looking to start a family, or just relocate Littleton, CO is a great place for anyone who wants a family-friendly move. While home prices are a little above the national average, they are lower than many places in Colorado, and an average 11% yearly appreciation rate makes even a starter home a great investment here. The Littleton Public School system is rated one of the top 20 safest in the nation, and one of the best in the nation for teachers and education tracks.
Littleton is home to two institutions of higher learning, Arapahoe Community College and Denver Seminary.The Littleton Museum is a combination art and historical museum, which features a children’s interactive gallery and two 19th-century farm sites. The town is also home to South Platte Park, which features the South Platte River.
If you love hiking and adventuring in the outdoors, Littleton is a great place to live! Littleton has over 1,400 acres of green space and 200 miles of trails. City parks include a water pad, playground equipment, and plenty of picnic and free area for families.
Annual events in Littleton include the Colorado Concours D’elegance & Exotic Sports Car Show in the spring and Summerset Craft Beer Festival in the fall. The Colorado Irish Festival is held here in three days in July, and the Hudson Gardens are home to year-round events.
There are ton of vacation opportunities close to Littleton. Scenic Boulder and Aspen are just a morning’s drive away. Just a little further is the Garden of the Gods, featuring huge red rock formations next to Colorado Springs. Next door lies Manitou Springs, the very definition of a scenic mountain getaway town!
"While Littleton, CO is far from a radical ""health nut"" environment, its parks, trails, and clean air make it one of the healthiest places to live. Its schools and low crime rates make for a family-friendly environment. It's just a short drive away from everything the Denver area has to offer, including museums, water parks, theme parks, and snow sports. Apartments in Littleton are some of the nicest in the Denver area, and homes here are definitely a good investment.
