    There are some pros/cons living here. I've been here almost 15 months, and am going to be moving out. I don't hate it, but I don't love it. I've lived at nicer apartments in The Heights and paid the same amount. Pro- *Living here was close to work for me *Pretty quiet at night/throughout the day *Nice pool *Neighbors stick to themselves for the most part (Pro/con) *I like the size of the apartments- really big coat closet and bedroom closet *Big porch/storage on the porch *Maintenance fixes ...
    things really quick *Isn't hard to find parking *Close to Trader Joes, HEB Cons- *No dog park *Dog poop everywhere- I pick up after my dog, but no one else seems to. *Neighbors below me smoke weed 24/7. *Many many many stray cats on the property. I see food in the bushes too, so the cats come back. I complained about this and was told that the cats are viewed as "rodent control," which now makes me think that there is a rodent problem. I see at least three (different) cats a day. *The AC only slightly works. I don't think it can actually get below 74. *GIANT cockroaches find their way into your apartment because it's an older building. I've had them come spray multiple times, and I am OCD clean. *My dishwasher has broken multiple times, doesn't dry with heat. *The washer and dryer are extremely loud- they shake the floor *You have to get the technology package- extra $100 on top of rent, plus pay the trash fee *Gym machine has been broken for months, and the tv's have never worked on the equipment *You have to pay for a parking sticker when you move in *Many community events are emailed to you the day of, too last minute

  • Started out ok and got progressively worse.

    We only chose this complex because of proximity to work and the fact that I might be transferred overseas while in the lease and Camden has the lowest fees for breaking their lease. The office staff except for the property manager Oscar have been a pleasure to deal with. The residents I have met have been great. The whole time we lived here our upstairs neighbors have been loud. Whenever they walk it sounds like thunder in our apt. We made numerous complaints but nothing changed even when the new ...
    residents moved in it somehow sounded worse than before. Our garage door shakes horrible whenever it opens and closes when I asked one of the maintenance guys if it could be fixed he said that's just how it is and they would have to replace the whole door and rails. We've had an ongoing issue with water bugs (the very large roaches) coming up through our drains in the bathrooms and laundry room. I'm from the Caribbean so dealing with the bugs wasn't too bad but it freaked my wife out and we have a toddler that puts everything in her mouth so she dreaded our daughter finding one. We were charged a technology fee which is the rent even though we couldn't use the tv service because the picture resolution was too low (480p) and the internet was slower than the LTE on my phone. So we had to get Uverse till the complex switched to Xfinity. The change over was an unGodly mess which I don't have enough space here to explain the inconvenience we suffered to get our service set up. Needless to say, we did not want to renew our lease but the attempt to keep us wasn't an effort at all. We would see an increase of almost $100 dollars after just experiencing a $55 increase from the updated tech package with Xfinity. They offered to save us $30 dollars to renew our lease, which is ridiculous when there are newer properties in the area with nicer amenities that are cheaper. Plus they charged us $125 cleaning fee before we even moved out with our final rent. I always try to leave apts I've rented in the past as spotless as I could so I got my deposit back. So as you can see there are a lot of hidden fees and charges that pop once you've signed the lease. If I had the choice again I would definitely not choose Camden Whispering Oaks.

Hidden fees are certainly not our practice. Cleaning fee, cable and internet fees are all disclosed. While many community were built new; our community is kept as new and with personnel that has been with Camden for 15 years plus our maintenance is top notch and we have 24/7 on call personnel to take care of your maintenance emergencies. Our community offers weekly Pest Control and our apartments are weather proof to keep pest away and to remain energy efficient, that includes double glass pane windows and high efficiency appliances. We transition to a new internet/cable provider and while construction and deployment issues of new services are planned ...

    Camden is a really good company to rent from. They keep their apartments updated and well-kept. I moved into Whispering Oaks in 2013 when I moved to Houston and I loved it. I experienced some silverfish, but other than that, maintenance is great, the staff is nice, and the complex is beautiful. I moved out to another place I deemed more affordable, but there I certainly got what I paid for. I came back to Camden and rented a larger apartment in 2015 and it's beautiful. Houston has A LOT of ...
    critters, but they are kept at bay well here. I see more spiders than anything else but it's not something that is out of control or unbearable. I like the resort feel of the apartment and I don't have constant maintenance issues like some other places and it's pretty quiet. I think it's a bit pricey, but it's worth it for where you lay your head at night. Parking is pretty good plenty of spaces and garages available. I did have a break-in as I'm on the first floor and left my new tv box outside for too long when I first moved in so it was stolen, but maintenance came and cleaned up the mess and boarded my window. The maintenance man even asked if I was ok. He was very kind. I had a new window in within a week or two, and now have ADT monitoring. Houston is a large city and crime happens everywhere, and I still feel safe and happy here. I would recommend this complex! Hope it's helpful!
