Low rent but a very poor neighborhood

The rent for us was cheaper than most of the other nearby apartments for the SQ footage, and they pay for water so we thought we were getting a good deal. This however came with a myriad of problems;
-There are drug dealers that hang out in the complex blasting music from their cars most nights.
-There have been several gun shots in the complex during our time living here.
-The neighbors almost never pick up their dog poop.
-Maintenance is slow to respond and will often take months to get to ...
your requests.
-The community is awful and full of people yelling at each other in the streets on a regular basis.
-The AMJ office increases rent at increments that far exceed reasonable amounts to push out anybody who has filed a complaint (I discovered this from talking with some neighbors throughout the complex).
-They will find any excuse to keep your security deposit, so be prepared to lose whatever you put down.

The apartments are good but they don't really take care of the places. Our back area is constantly overgrown and they only trim it with a mower in one spot every month. About a month ago, they finally decided to do some trimming and just chopped down a small tree. The tree is still there. They chopped it down and left. Hopefully you don't have pets. Its over grown and because of that our dog has gotten ticks. Our air conditioning has also gone out several times because it gets clogged with all ...
