GREAT Place To Live!

My husband and I have lived at the Cosmopolitan for 11 years and absolutely love it. Erin, the Resident Manager is WONDERFUL! She is very attentive to the tenants needs, and is an absolute delight. The maintenance crew is always there when you need them. It's a GREAT place to live! We plan on having many, many more years of tenant satisfaction at the Cosmo.

We like it but it's far from perfect...

We were in a scramble to find a place and had to move in sight unseen. Our apartment is updated, but they still had to tear our the AC unit and replace it after water came up through the kitchen floor. They got it mostly done (they still haven't replaced the vent). We just haven't made time to have maintenance finish it because I work from home, have a pet, and the wife isn't always available. The north side hallway and elevator lobbies are not as clean as the south side. The south side ...
smells cleaner also. North side 5th floor entrance to courtyard smells like mold. The pool area is nice but not kept up. The carpets in the pool area are moldy. There are grills and sunset classes on the deck. The gym is fair with decent mix of equipment, some free weights, and cardio machines - though 2 of the 3 treadmills don't work. The staff is very nice and responsive and helpful. Parking is decent ... It's a garage that is shared with the public. We park on the 4th floor which is the most open. The apartments are quiet from a neighbor standpoint. But on the north side, you get all the noise from street traffic and the events taking place outside the comedy club - live music, etc. Given the very central location, there's a lot of emergency vehicle noise - police, ambulances, fire trucks, etc. You'll rarely go an hour without hearing those. The location is very walkable with a ton of stores and restaurants close by. If you have a dog, it might not be optimal. They do take pets, but our dogs responds a lot to interior hallway noise, smells, etc. It's also a bit inconvenient to have to get your pet out for a walk in such a heavy traffic area. We like it and if we weren't planning to buy a house, we'd prob stay. All the people we've encountered in the building seem really nice. Given what we've rented in the past in locations like South Florida and Austin, Texas, we thought it was a little pricey here, but I think it's due to market availability.

Disgusting Property
December 13, 2020
This building is dirty and absolutely disgusting. I cannot wait until my lease is up. I have addressed ongoing maintenance problems, COVID-19 violations, noise issues and filthy common areas with the building management with little success. The website is grossly misleading, don't fall for it. Additionally, there is still a considerable amount of construction going on...not an excuse for the filth. The problems here are clearly from a lack of good leadership and financial planning. I'm sure I'll ...

The Stepford Wives version of apartment buildings

Have you ever been on a vacation some place really nice but someone in your group still found a way to make it really suck? That’s basically what it has become like to live at the Cosmopolitan in Town Center. It wasn’t always this way. Just to give you an impression of how long it’s been great and how rapidly it declined, when I first moved in 2010, and as recently as 2015 when my girlfriend moved into the building, there was a 3-6 month waiting list. Now they’re offering 1-month free rent and ...
frequently $1000 bonuses to residents who refer. This sounds awesome at first, but trust me it’s more like that time Apu sold Homer Simpson 10lbs of discount shrimp. Neighbors I’ve known for nearly a decade are suddenly leaving en masse. One nearby apartment has had 3 residents in a little less than 2 years. Management is often passive aggressive or just openly rude. As recently as today, I was back of the hand waived to “just go sit over there across the lobby and I’ll get to you. We’re in a personal conversation.” Did that ‘personal’ conversation move to a private location? Nope, it was loud and laughing right up until closing. This place is the Stepford Wives version of apartment buildings. Highly recommend not living here unless Town Center is that important and there are no other residences available.

Best Staff and Kept Complex

We have lived in the Cosmopolitan for over 3 years and don't regret a day. We actually lived in two apartments here. A middle 10th floor overlooking the Town Center Plaza and Fountain first and then a 10th floor corner unit (moved to access Direct TV) overlooking Mount Trashmore and the skyline. In the present apartment we have seen two superb New Year's Eve celebrations with fireworks and the ball drop right from our patio and two Fourth of July fireworks displays at Mount Trashmore. city (Norfolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Portsmouth) celebrations you can see fireworks all along the horizon. The apartment had two bedrooms both over-sized. The second bedroom we use as an office/gym and it holds two desks, a treadmill, shelves, a two seat couch, and printer stand. This still leaves the middle portion of the room open. The living room holds two couches, end tables, a 55 inch tv and stand/shelf unit, table and four chairs. The master bedroom was large enough for a queen bed room set to include the dresser and two night stands. It also has a linen closet, a small coat/seasonal clothing closet and an over-sized walk-in closet. Both baths have a tub/shower, toilet and vanity. In apartment laundry with washer and dryer is a plus. Off of the kitchen is another small closet and the appliances work very well. Plenty of counter space and cabinet space is provided. There are on site storage units available, a business center, club house (fully equipped) w/ appliances, furniture and wall mounted tv), full gym w/towel service, pool, grilling area (w/2 gas grills). The staff here will take care of you like family in any matter from front office to maintenance. No issue is too big for them to handle. The building when the office is closed is secured and when open they do not allow anyone to access the building without your permission. You also become a member of the Cosmo Club when you live here which gives you discounts and freebies with the restaurants and businesses in Town Center. Overall I would stay here as long as possible because you see where your rent money goes and the staff here cares about the property.
