Not good with follow thru and communication
July 26, 2022Frank estate management will not call or email me back even though they owe money. I was a good renter and paid on time and they owe me money and have not paid me. I have tried many many times to get a hold of someone in management and I have had no luck. They said to call them so we could work things out and I do and they never called me back. Living there was nice, but dealing with management is a terrible experience!Review from Apartments.com
Never makes repairs
August 1, 2021I have had a fridge that hums and shakes the whole apartment for 15 months, due to covid they could fix it. But when my washer broke they fixed that. I have been calling since I have been vaccinated for 5 months 1-2 times a week they finally put a work order in a month and half ago. Still nothing. The pool is still not open, due to repairs. The only reason why I gave it two stars is because of the sceneryReview from Apartments.com
Be prepared
July 15, 2021I would give this one star if it weren't for the dog park and the beautiful setting, which, despite poor irrigation and constant issues with mud, are the only redeemable aspects of this place. The worst part is that it does not have nearly enough parking spots for the high density of tenants per unit. If you live past the entrance, parking is nearly impossible in the evenings and you can expect to spend an extra 15 to 20 minutes driving around and even longer walking up to a quarter mile to get ...to your apartment (sometimes through the aforementioned mud). If you have mobility issues and you can't afford an extra $200 for a parking spot, then I highly recommend that you don't rent here. Another negative aspect is the constant construction, which has been going 5-6 days a week for the last year that I have lived here. One of my windows was broken, as we're the windows of two others that I know of, and a stray nail popped the tire on my car. I know that these things are largely out of management's control, but after 6 years of living here it is obvious that the companies interests are always centered over the tenant experience. This "luxury" apartment complex makes me long for my bargain apartment above the plaid pantry dumpster in the city.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Disaster appartment on move-in, terrible communication
April 12, 2021Our apartment was a disaster the day we got the keys. Resolving these issues has been like pulling teeth. Terrible communication here, and still no timeframes for fixes.Property Manager Responded
April 19, 2021We're very sorry to hear of your frustrations. In order for us to best assist you, we encourage you to please call our office as soon as possible to speak with our community manager. We'd sincerely appreciate the opportunity to discuss your concerns in more detail, so we may then work to remedy any issues you may be experiencing. We look forward to your call. Thank you, The FE Team

Horrible Management!
March 1, 2021Second month of having a porta-potty placed 10 ft from my bedroom window and front door for the construction workers that have destroyed all landscaping and any appeal that there was to living here. Also, there is very little parking available and then construction workers place no parking signs and take precedent over the paying tenants and park throughout the complex. DO NOT LIVE HERE!Property Manager Responded
March 8, 2021We're very sorry to hear of your frustrations. We are currently completing a re-siding project that is quite a process, but the end result will be beautiful! That being said, our community manager will be meeting with the construction supervisor this week to discuss your concerns in more detail. We sincerely appreciate our residents' patience and understanding during this time. Thank you, The FE Team
Review from Apartments.com
Not worth the cost
March 31, 2019This place is definitely a mixed bag. If it were cheaper I would probably happily recommend it despite some of its flaws like the constant construction and nonexistent parking, but for the price they’re asking I feel like you could do so much better elsewhere. They have a lot of little “perks” that feel more like lip service to the idea of a higher end apartment complex than anything to actually justify the price.Property Manager Responded
April 4, 2019Hi there, First and foremost, I would like to thank you for your review. We appreciate candid feedback as it only helps us to do better. I would also like to thank you for the kind remarks regarding the maintenance team and office staff. I can completely understand your comments towards the areas of our community that may need improvement. I’ve worked in Property Management for a long time so I completely understand frustration of not finding parking when you get home. We do offer a variety of parking options from the open spaces to reserving a carport or garage. I know that allowing our residents to park along the non-red curbs has also helped with parking tremendously. The “mini park” you’re referring to is our off-leash dog park. It’s a wonderful space to for our furry residents and we take pride is having such space available. The Frank Estate is nearly 30 years old and we want to be sure to keep the community pretty and well-maintained for current and future residents. It’s never ...our intention to cause a disturbance but we want to provide a pleasant living experience. I’m available Monday through Friday should you want to further discuss any questions or concerns. Thanks again, Alexsi

Great Customer Service
August 4, 2018Moved recently and wish I never left. The workers are friendly prompt and useful. This continued even through the move out process. I was afraid of losing my deposit or extra fees from other reviews but did not experience this.Review from Apartments.com
Current resident that is moving out
September 3, 2017I'm actually currently moving out of the Frank Estate, only because my sister and I would like to be closer to our jobs and school downtown. They have an amazing hidden neighborhood, it's beautiful and they keep it very well maintained. Work orders to fix something usually happen that day or the next. An amazing place if you have a dog, tons of open space. Only thing that concerns me is the moving out process.. I have read many reviews about people experience and I myself am concerned that I ...might get charged an arm and a leg for an apartment that we have kept extremely clean. Guess I will have to update my review after moving out. Only advise I would give a future resident would be to pay for covered parking... it is very difficult to find parking after 7/8 pm.Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Used to be a great place to live
June 27, 2016I agree with the last reviewer that too often people only leave reviews when they have a bad experience. For that reason I've reviewed all the places I've lived, and so far they had all been fair and largely positive. But I don't see any reason not to post an equally fair review when I have had a negative experience. I lived here most recently for just 11 months, from June 2015 to May 2016. Will try not to make this a TL;DR...if you rate the FE apartments/property/neighborhood in isolation ...from the staff and objective value for price, it is an OK place to live. Certainly the property grounds are beautiful, I liked the neighborhood, and always felt safe. One thing I wanted to make sure people are aware of is that the pictures on their website and on apartment search sites, with white and chrome interiors, represent only a small portion of their units. They planned to do a major renovation (complete with major rent hike) but told me right before I moved out that the property owners had cancelled it. I suspect they realized that at the rate people are moving out (my lease renewal was going to be $150-$500 a month for a 2 bedroom), they would end up with a lot of empty apartments for many months at a time. Also, all residents received several mass emails asking them to review FE in April, and incentivized us to do so with a gift basket raffle for anyone who did a review. Be sure to take the time to find and read the reviews from 2015 and early 2016. You will find that many people had very bad experiences at move-out. I moved out at end of May and have spent weeks and many, many unanswered emails trying to get basic receipts/invoices to document the cleaning charges they assessed to me, with no success. They also charged me for blemishes/stains *that I marked as present upon move-in, on my move-in inspection sheet*, and have refused to even address my questions about that. I finally just paid them what they claimed (undocumented) I owed, under threat of collections. I made heroic attempts to resolve this with them prior to posting any reviews. I summary I would no longer recommend FE. I am sad because I lived here from 2009 to 2012 as well, had a stellar experience, and would have recommended it to anyone back then (and did write a glowing review elsewhere at that time).Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Great apartment/condo with awesome greenspace and sense of community!
June 8, 2016Lots of bad reviews, but seriously a great place to live. We were there for a year, have a 4 and 5 year old who made instant friends bc of pool and meadow area. Building materials were horrible quality, but looked nice. Maintenance folks became known on 1st name basis, but they were prompt and courteous. That was the only downside, which was far outweighed by the sense of community, safety and peacefulness of the complex. We did not have the move out experience that others have written about, ...but we also decided to write off the $200 cleaning fee rather than try to clean ourselves, assuming they'd ding us there anyway. Bc of the reviews, we expected rate hike when we had to go an extra month before we moved and there was no crazy pricing. We even considered extending a year instead of moving and our new lease quote was close to the same as our prior year, so nothing bad then either. I'd chalk up the negative reviews to feedback areas being a place to vent bad experiences, which is a good thing, and I think easier to motivate yourself to do bc you're fueled by anger, right? Often seems harder to find time to leave a good review/feedback, which is kinda ironic. But my family's experience was so good, I made the time:)Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
Don't live here!
June 2, 2016Do yourself a favor and don't live here! All seems great at move in, but when it is time to extend your lease or move out they will take as much as they can. The staff was always rude, especially Kim. The apartment is way over priced for what you live in. Portland has high rent anyway, but this place is delusional if they think their apartments are nicer than their competitors (I was fooled by their pictures). Don't let their pictures fool you. Most of their apartments don't look anywhere close ...to the pictures on this website (these are the newly remodeled apartments - which there are very few of). My wife and I recently moved out and had to go month to month for a couple of months due to us moving this summer. Our rent went up $400-$500 per month when we went month to month (a reasonable increase is expected but this is crazy). I've lived in many apartments, but this is the worst one by far that I've experienced. I read these reviews and didn't put much emphasis on them, and now I'm regretting it. Trust me, it isn't worth your time!Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
All Good Until It's Time To Move Out!
January 12, 2016DO NOT MOVE HERE! I moved out a month ago after finishing out my 11 month contract because they were going to give us a $150/month price hike for renewing a 1 year contract and a $700/month price hike for going month to month since we doubted we would need a place for a year as we were actively looking for a house. I am a very clean person, always vacuuming, dusting, cleaning walls even and windows. No shoes in the house, etc. We were charged $200 for carpet cleaning and $200 for all over ...cleaning! I have never in my life been charged more than $100 for both of those things put together which usually comes straight out of the deposit. They nickle and dimed the heck out of us on top of those things, meaning after they took away from our initial deposit we owed them $394!!! So I emailed them asking to be set up on a payment plan because that was an expense I was not expecting (I have lived in many apartments over the last 10 years and have never been charged for move out fees on top of the deposit) and the lady, Kim, let me know that the manager would get back with me. Never got back with me. I got a call today (1 month later) from collections asking for payment. These apartments may look nice, but they are over priced, impossible to heat, they charge $100-$150/month for water sewer garbage whether you actually use that much w/s/g or not and there is never parking close to your apartment unless you are willing to pay the $30/month for a covered spot. Save yourself the hastle. We have since moved to Shadow Hill and they told us up front that they don't charge for cleaning when you move out. Hallelujah!Read MoreReview from Apartments.com
