Named after its founder, Harry Culver, Culver City was incorporated in 1917. The first film studio was built the following year with more to follow throughout the 1920s, including Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM). The city was also home to one of the first Southern California shopping malls, and many speakeasies during the Prohibition era.

As Culver City is located in the heart of Southern California, the weather is virtually gorgeous all year long. With temperatures generally falling within the 60s and 70s in any given season. During the winter, temperatures may drop to the 40s and during the summer, it can get as hot as the high 80s.

Though it is always more convenient to travel around town in your own car, Culver City does offer a bus service that can take you around within the city. As part of the Los Angeles Metro Expo Line, there is a Culver City station. It can take you to Downtown Los Angeles and Downtown Santa Monica.

Los Angeles is famous for its packed highways and tough commutes. Like most metropolitan areas, this will always be the case. Culver City does have terrific freeway access to the Interstate 405, also known as the San Diego Freeway, and the Interstate 10, or the Santa Monica Freeway. Outside of rush hour, these freeways make it easy to go out and about for a good time.
