Explore East Haven
Lighthouse Point Park apartment residents have an excellent beach area where an old lighthouse, now retired, stands guard over the park. With a carousel, summer refreshment stands, a SplashPad and pavilions for rent, tenants of New Haven apartments have a great place to go play in the sun, winter or summer. The park itself hosts the lovely lighthouse originally built in 1804 and rebuilt in 1847. In 1877, the main lighthouse was moved to guide ships to a better docking station. When you occupy Lighthouse Park apartments, you have the benefits of a nearby beach that offers exciting annual events, walking and biking, and exploring the East Shore Ranger program with a variety of learning programs available throughout the year. The Ranger station also houses a touch tank with local fish and sea creatures, a "ship experience" where you can wheel the ship, lie in a sailor's hammock and raise and lower sails. In addition, the Ranger Program offers occasional water-bound adventure programs including kayaking and canoeing. Just contact the Outdoor Adventure Coordinator at 203-944-6768. When you have guests to your Lighthouse Park apartments, make sure you take them to the park to ride on the old fashioned carousel built in the 1920's. It is one of less than 100 left in operation in the US today. The carousel is in operation on the weekends and on holidays only. And when visitors to your New Haven apartment want refreshments and souvenirs at Lighthouse Point, these are easy to access during the summer months. And speaking of summer, make sure to bring your bathing suit to play in the Lighthouse Park SplashPad during this time of year. It is a series of fresh water fountains to play in, located near the beach and the bath house. Read the rules, or you might get sent back to your New Haven apartment!
