So, you've just moved to your new apartment in Miami and your laid-back yet quietly trendy lifestyle is completely upset. You've spent a good few years in your last home carving out a niche of restaurants, cafes and bars that you call home; you did the research and reaped the results, feeling exactly like a local and finding a small collection of places that you and your friends hang out at. So what do you do now you're in Miami? Stop by News Cafe and see for yourself. Located right in the middle of Miami Beach, this quirky, unique cafe is open 24 hours and boasts an impressive variety of international newspapers and coffee table books through which to browse. For a 24-hour cafe offering newspapers to read, you'd be forgiven for thinking that all that News Cafe offers in the way of food would be greasy, post-bar/pre-hangover fare. Nothing could be further from the truth; the cafe does offer a 24-hour breakfast (try the french toast or huevos rancheros) but the international newspaper section is complimented by the extensive international menu. Among the variety of feasts on offer are cheeseburgers, pizzas, pasta dishes, sandwiches and even stuffed grape leaves. Vegetarian and vegan apartment-ites will have a welcome variety to choose from, including grilled portabella mushrooms, Chinese veggie stir-fry or the four-cheese ravioli with with a choice of sauces. If you're still hungry, there's more: try the dessert nachos with vanilla ice cream, six-layer carrot cake or for health-conscious apartment-ites, try the frozen yogurt shake. The cafe's location is by far the best for people-watching, either on a busy Saturday night, or a calm weekday afternoon. At News Cafe, the focus is as much on the food as the beverages. The bar boasts a massive variety of cocktails and wines, and the cafe offers a great list of coffee drinks, including Venetia with Sambuca, or a Frangelico cappucino. Perfect for the night before, or the morning after.
