For travel-loving Miami apartment residents, even though Miami International Airport is the nearest option for international travel, it almost always gets a bad rap. Many passengers blame managers, ticket agents, or the airline representatives themselves, because for the most part, it is a bit of a mess. Some people have had bad experiences with luggage searches or missing connecting flights, which is admittedly off-putting. While it's not as organised as other international airports, security here is a high priority, which is a comforting fact. Like many international airports (e.g. London Heathrow), many of the gates are about a 10-15-minute walk to the departure gates, which can be a bit of a trek if you've cut your check-in time too close. If you're hungry, there are two levels of restaurants (the better ones are on the 2nd floor), including a margarita bar, and the restrooms often have fresh flowers in them. The frequent renovations and constructions can be a bit of a hindrance, but are appreciated considering the airport is in dire need of repair, re-maintenance and updating. On the plus side, the interior design of the airport features a lot of skylights, allowing for a lot of light and warmth to brighten up the area, so if you're not too impressed with this airport, consider it nothing more than a small blip between your Miami apartment and your dream vacation. .
