There is plenty of shopping and a plethora or restaurants available throughout Medford and Malden as well as the great new development of Station landing and Wellington Circle and the hottest new area of Boston, Assembly Row. Walking distance to plenty of great eating and drinking establishments! Now for the apartment it self, it much better than I had anticipated. The management company run by the namesake owner, Mastocola, is a great, very friendly and extremely helpful management company with multiple properties throughout the area. The building is all one bedroom units which are very spacious and very well kept. It is all hardwood flooring with plenty of windows to let in lots of light. Even came with a dishwasher which was not as common in my experience around Boston. Also comes with a built in wall AC unit that adequately cools down the entire apartment. Coin op washer and dryer for use on the bottom floor of the building. When we moved in I was so surprised by how clean and well kept the unit was. It was evident that upon departure by the previous tenants that a professional cleaning crew had come and cleaned the entire apartment top to bottom, not a spec of dirt or dust anywhere and I could tell that the walls were freshly painted and touched up. What a nice relief to find that I didn't have to do any cleaning when I moved in. You would never find anything like that around Boston for similarly priced units. The single complaint I have is that a couple residents of the building go outside to smoke (no smoking inside thankfully) and having our living room window near the entrance, smoke does waft in occasionally with the windows open. Real horrible complaint, I know. A few other notes, heat (baseboard) and hot water included with rent. Cats are allowed! Barely ever heard even a faint inclination that the building has other renters, so nice to have peace and quiet. However if you like your windows open and are not used to traffic noise, its there.
