This complex is incredibly inexpensive for a property so near the center of things. The Museum District is very close, the Montrose Area is easily within reach, and Downtown is an easy commute. In spite of issues in the past the current manager is working hard to set things right. She has turned things around and made the complex better than she found it.

I just moved in and I absolutely love it here! My apartment was ready with all the utilities already turned on. Manager, Tracy was great helping me with all my move-in needs. The grounds are kept nice and clean and it's really quiet at night. The price is very reasonable for the area! I still can not believe I found this place. Thank you Tracy for all your help!

If you're looking for something in transition, this is a good option. But I won't recommend living here past a year. You will have to deal with people stealing your mail and packages. Roaches, loud neighbors, neighbors fighting, there's no place to park at night until the tow guys come. They don't come til 9pm to do their first round.

When i found Takara So, it hit the spot. Sure its an old complex and it doesn't look amazing from the outside (which helps avoid solicitors/outsiders from being drawn to this place), but when I got to look inside, the unit was spotless. The bathroom was pristine white (points!) Location is perfect! You can literally walk to HEB, Trader Joe's, The Menil and close by to the famous Halal Guys restaurant which is about to open. other places I've seen, this place is comfortable and livable in terms of its price. It's fairly peaceful, I haven't felt unsafe around this area or seen any suspicious activity. The neighbors are very welcoming! Be friendly and they'll look out for you. I love that I can look out my window and see my car in the parking lot. They're also part of the Houston Police Dept Blue Star program which tells me they're being proactive about the safety of the tenants. You have to consider that it is an old apartment and you'll come across a leaky sink or clogged toilet. I've viewed many other apartments within the price range in the surrounding area before choosing to move here and this is going to be an inevitable problem wherever you go. But on the upside, the management and maintenance person are on site and will help you with any problems you have and they take care of it quick. The other day I face planted my glass window (I'm okay though) trying to chase my dog; i had to temporarily patch up my window with aluminum foil. i addressed it to the manager and by the next day I had a new glass window. It was free of charge! (He said unless i keep breaking windows then he'll have to charge me) But the manager is very understanding. The most important thing is to do your part as a responsible neighbor and this place will take care of you.

Recently moved in to this apartment complex. Although I was told by a neighbor that the person who previously lived in my apartment "trashed" the place, it was in perfect shape upon move in. I've had a few very minor issues (light bulb went out. toilet was slightly clogged.) and everything has been fixed the same day I request maintenance. The community is friendly and the common areas are great to hang out in.

Since the new blood came and took over Takara this place has become a joy to call home. Any maintenance needs are taken care of immediately, Javier the property manager is the best. Not only does he make sure to get to know everyone, he constantly follows up with me when I walk my dog to see if I need anything at all.
