Humble Overview

Located snugly in Harris County, a distinct metropolitan area within the hub of Houston, Humble is an ideal slice of small town Texas life. Close enough to savor the excitement of the big city yet offering the charm of a much cozier destination, apartments in Humble are a great way to get to know the Lone Star State.

What is the history of Humble?

Settled in the 1830s, Humble quickly became a popular stopping point due to its ferry over the San Jacinto River. The city takes its name from a former Justice of the Peace, and by the early 1900s Humble was considered a fabled 'boom town' of oil. Boasting the most oil production in all of Texas by 1905, Humble thrived for the better part of a decade. Once the oil boom slowed, the city remained a popular spot for dairy and timber, with many families continuing to call Humble rentals home. The construction of the Houston Airport in the late 1960s added a huge swell of hot spot buzz to the area as well, and apartments in Humble remain popular to this day.

How is the weather in Humble?

Prone to humid and lengthy summers and mild, pleasant winters, those residing in Humble apartments can rely on little snowfall each year. Springtime brings with it rainstorms, and the muggy summers can be a tad unpleasant for the uninitiated. Autumn is generally dry and cooler, although it is not unheard of for summer temps to continue into the month of September.

How do I get around town?

The larger Houston bus system services much of Humble, and taxis are found with relative ease. Extended Greyhound bus service is also available, and the international Houston Airport is quite close to many Humble apartments for rent.

What is the Humble commute like?

Those planning to commute to Houston proper should allow themselves plenty of time and patience, as Houston traffic is notoriously sluggish. Peak later afternoon drive time can be especially slow going, and road construction is a constant as well. Highway 610 feeds into the east-west corridor of I-10, and Interstate 45 leads north to Dallas. A number of smaller county roads are also accessible to many Humble apartments.

What are the local media outlets?

The 'Houston Chronicle' and 'Houston Business News' act as primary print media for the region, although a few independent press circulars including the 'Humble Observer' cater to the city specifically as well. KUHF and KROI are a pair of the popular radio options, with talk, classic rock and Tejano dominating the airwaves. Broadcast affiliates such as NBC and ABC are found with ease inside Humble apartment homes, beamed in nightly from Houston and beyond.

Why live in Humble, TX?

An idyllic quarter of the great Texas experience, Humble apartments offer small town living with all of the amenities of a larger city just within reach. Notable for its schools as well as neighbor-to-neighbor charm, this Lone Star State original is a fantastic place for families and young working professionals alike.

What Humble landmarks should I see?

The only remaining DeLorean Motor Company in the nation can be found in Humble, making it a must-see stop for any fans of the 'Back To The Future' series. The Golf Club of Houston also is just a par 4 from the city, home to a number of PGA Tour events. An array of local homes and cemeteries are also highly notable for their historic significance.

What is there to do around Humble?

Flush with public parks, Humble is a wonderful place for those enjoying the great outdoors. Of course, the bright lights of Houston are only a short drive away, where you can cheer on the Texas Rangers, visit a huge number of museums and art galleries, of laugh the night away with a comedy performance at The Secret Group.

Any annual festivals or Humble events to know?

The Day For Night Festival is a relatively new event to the area, combining art installations with musical performances by acts such as Bjork and the Jesus and Mary Chain. BBQ and other food festivals are well-represented in Humble and the surrounding vicinity throughout the year, and the Texas State Fair is located just a few hours north in Dallas.

Where are the nearby vacation spots?

Grab the kids and head to Baton Rouge for a slice of Louisiana cooking and jazz, of head south to the Texas coast for world-class fishing and a few days on the beach. The music center of Austin is just a few hours to the west directly off I-10, and Beaumont's Alligator Farms make a great weekend escape filled with adventure.

Where is the best place to move in Humble?

Humble apartments are well-represented throughout the stretch of Harris County, with just about every economic level and lifestyle accounted for. Whether you are on the hunt for a roomy three-bedroom family unit or simply a functional and affordable efficiency, Humble has something to offer for everyone. Start your search today!
