gripe about what's wrong, but never inform the landlord that something is broke or needs attention. I can tell you this... if you tell the ladies at Tropicana that something needs repair, then they get right on it. They have a deducated maintenance crew that you always see building, mowing, or repairing something. A couple of times I told the fellas about something wrong in the apartment and they grabbed what they needed out of the truck and fixed it within minutes. I lived there for 3 years and never had any problems. It was quiet, repairs always got done, I could have my packages left at the office with the ladies so I didnt miss a delivery, the parking gate worked fine, the pool area was perfect for grilling/drinks/cooling off in the pool, no cracking grout, brand new granite countertops, no ongoing plumbing issues, quick responsiveness for needed repairs, no high turnover of maintenance guys, quick snow removal, great working appliances, brand new dryers, great working washers, and most importantly - no hateful landlords. I looked for a long time at apartments in KC before deciding on Tropicana. You will not find a better price for an apartment in South Plaza KC. It is just a couple minutes walk to The Peanut on main, and roughly a 7 minute walk to the front door of any classroom building on UMKC Campus (I was a law student). Combine price, location, security, amenities (yeah, there's a pool), private parking and outstanding management, and you have what should be your next apartment.
