San Bruno Overview

Located just a mere dozen or so miles south of San Francisco, it becomes apparently quickly why San Bruno has been dubbed 'the city with heart'. Centered at the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, this cozy California hot spot has much to offer a variety of lifestyles.

What is the history of San Bruno?

While the city's roots extend well into the mid-1800s, San Bruno truly came into its own with the establishment of the local post office in 1875. After the earthquake of 1906 in San Francisco, San Bruno grew rapidly in both population and amenities. By 1910 several schools were flourishing in the vicinity, and San Bruno's close proximity to the nearby International Airport upon its opening in 1927 helped propel its popularity even further. Today, the city remains an epicenter of both tech and retail, with Youtube making its main headquarters in the town and the Ecommerce section of WalMart also located nearby.

How is the weather in San Bruno?

California weather doesn't get much more ideal than life in a San Bruno apartment, with summers typically dry and pleasantly warm. Autumn is highlighted by crisp 'jacket weather', and winters are generally wet yet free of snow and ice.

How do I get around town?

Thanks to its proximity to San Fran, those calling San Bruno rentals home will have little trouble traversing the city via public transit. Bus service is found with relative ease, and the BART rail system connects directly to the nearby San Francisco International Airport. Still, many locals rely upon a personal car or truck for much of their daily transport needs.

What is the San Bruno commute like?

Interstate-280 and Interstate-380 are both major roadways in the area, and, this being California, both are prone to some degree of daily congestion. For those commuting to Youtube and other local employers the trek should yield minimal stress on the daily, although getting around San Francisco proper can pose construction delays and some sluggish conditions.

What are the local media outlets?

The 'Mercury News' is a popular local print outlet, and the 'San Francisco Chronicle' remains one of the most widely-read news sources in the region. Those living in San Bruno apartments can enjoy plenty of options when it comes to broadcast television, thanks to nearby affiliates of major networks like NBC and CBS, while radio tends to lean towards political talk, modern rock and R&B formats.

Why live in San Bruno, CA?

Home to a number of local homes of higher learning as well as plenty of nationally-respected employers such as Target and Lowe's, life in San Bruno apartments for rent makes a great option for both growing families and career-centered singles alike. From gorgeous public parkland to the convenient retail shopping of the downtown scene, this slice of California sunshine is an idyllic place to call your own.

What San Bruno landmarks should I see?

The nearby Wind Harp Tower is an instantly recognizable landmark to locals, and history buffs will surely want to examine the SF-51 Nike Missile Site, which dates back to the 1950s. The Millbrae Train Museum is yet another great place to visit, located just a short drive from most apartments for rent in San Bruno.

What is there to do around San Bruno?

Try your luck at Artichoke Joe's Casino, or get wet and wild with a fun visit to the excitement of Junipero Park, both a quick hop from many local San Bruno rentals. Gintei is a romantic spot for excellent sushi and ambiance, while Kava Bar serves impressive cocktails and locally crafter lagers.

Any annual festivals or San Bruno events to know?

Harvest Fest is a great way to welcome fall in San Bruno, complete with a haunted house and plenty of apple cider. The nearby Aloha Festival draws in large crowds by offering live music and plenty of tantalizing cuisine, and the Art and Wine Festival dominates the springtime.

Where are the nearby vacation spots?

Hit the famous Highway 101 for a drive down the coast to San Diego, or simply spend a weekend soaking up the hotspots of California wine country, both an easy drive from numerous San Bruno apartments. Norther California is also ideal for nature lovers, brimming with hiking trails, fishing and plenty of hiking.

Where is the best place to move in San Bruno?

From the retail shop convenience of downtown to the city park ambiance of Crystal Springs Avenue, San Bruno apartments are available to meet a wide array of budgets and needs. So whether you are on the hunt for a comfy two-bedroom close to area schools or simply require an economic efficiency complete with pet-friendly policies, we are confident the perfect San Bruno apartment is out there waiting for you. Happy hunting and welcome to California!
