You want to be seen out and about from your apartment in San Diego? Visit the Altitude Sky Lounge. Okay, so it's a hotel bar, but that doesn't take away from the ultra-cool atmosphere and ambiance created at the Altitude located in the San Diego Marriott Gas Lamp District. Because of incoming airline traffic, there aren't too many skyscrapers in downtown, but at 22 stories, you feel you're on top of the world. It is the tallest open air bar in the region, and allows you to see a sweeping view of Coronado Island, and downtown San Diego. Cool drinks and music and a great happy hour make Altitude a pleasurable place to visit anytime. The appetizer menu includes such fare as grilled California artichoke, dungeness crab cakes, Prince Edward Island mussels, artesian cheeses and a variety of seasoned flatbreads. The drink menu is extensive, offering delicious varieties of margaritas, martinis, cocktails, beer and wine. Friendly staff greet you and make you feel welcome. Live bands appear on the weekends to add to the hype of the evening, making it a rocking good time. By the way, is that a baseball game that you hear? If you're outdoors at the Altitude from about April to October, it's probably the Padres, and their rambunctious fans that are cheering. Watch a runner score on home plate in Petco Park, just below, in view of the Altitude. Described by Conde Naste Traveler magazine as "one of the newest, hottest, sexiest, nightclubs all over the world," it's well worth at least a visit! So grab a few of your apartment buddies and elevate to the Altitude Sky Lounge.
