Enter the world of espionage and intelligence gathering at the exciting International Spy Museum in downtown DC. You can explore the shadowy world of spying and the role spies have played throughout history. The information is presented in a way to educate the public about intelligence-related issues and how it affects us. Find out techniques that spies use, maybe you live next to a spy in your apartment! The museum offers exhibits, lectures, hands on workshops and an enticing "Dinner with a Spy," a program to dine and discuss intelligence gathering with a former intelligence operative. "Inside Stories" tells stories of personal accounts from real spies and gives historic and current and insight to world affairs. "Hot Topics" probe current issues from Russian activities to the transformation of the U.S. intelligence field. Trace the impact of spies from Biblical times to the recent past, such as the Civil War, World War II and the FBI's hunt for Weather Underground fugitives in the "Secret History of History" section. And in films, there are many spies featured. Find out more at the "Spies on Screen" area. A fun time can be found at "Spy School Workshops" where you can read body language, crack codes and detect surveillance. You'll get to try your hand at performing as a spy yourself. Or try a Scavenger Hunt where you'll crack codes, decode messages and interact with other spies in an Ultimate, Excellent or Super Scavenger Hunt. KidSpy programs are available as well for your kids and their friends, or family kids. The International Spy Museum is open 9 or 10 am to 6 to 8 pm, depending on the day of the week, so check the website or call to confirm hours for the day of your visit.
