North Miami Beach Overview

Choosing to live in North Miami Beach apartments is a fabulous lifestyle to have. This city is a famous and culture-rich part of Florida that’s very popular with residents. Miami in general is a busy city with over five million people living there from all walks of life. The great weather, interesting history, and modern lifestyle are just a few reasons this city is one of the most popular in the United States. What is the history of North Miami Beach?

Apartments in North Miami Beach are located in Miami-Dade County. During the late 1800s, it was a farming community with people growing pineapples, beans, tomatoes, and sugar cane in the rich soil. Its name was originally Fulford-by-the-Sea in 1926 by Captain William H. Fulford, who was in the Coast Guard. In 1936 the name of the city became North Miami Beach. Sometimes people refer to this area as NMB. 

How is the weather in North Miami Beach?

The weather year round in North Miami Beach is sunny and gorgeous. Temperatures in the summer can get pretty hot going up into the upper 80s and 90s. The rest of the year is a little more mild, still hot, but with temperatures in the mid and upper 70s. Keep in mind it’s also a humid climate, so when it’s summer and early fall it can be very sticky with a ton of moisture lingering in the air. There is also a hurricane season to worry about when you live in North Miami Beach apartments. That’s from July to October each year. 

How do I get around town?

There is public transportation in North Miami Beach. The Metro Bus runs in all parts of Miami Beach and throughout Miami. You can also take the bus over to the Metrorail in mainland Miami and the Brightline train up to Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. For transportation all throughout Miami Beach, you can also take the free trolley that runs down to Mid and South Beach. There are also bike lanes and walking paths along the beach. With two major airports near North Miami Beach, it's an easy city to fly in and out of. Miami International Airport, near Downtown Miami, and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, which is about 40 minutes away are the two that people travel from. 

What is the North Miami Beach commute like?

Traffic can be a bit of a hassle in Miami Beach in general and all throughout Miami. US Route 1 and Highway 95 both border North Miami Beach, running North and South through the city. If you work in Downtown Miami, it’s only going to take 26 minutes to get there without traffic. During the rush hours, it’s going to be 45-60 minutes. If you want to travel to South Beach, you can take scenic and famous Collins Avenue all the way there in about 20 minutes. 

What are the local media outlets?

The newspaper in Miami is the Miami Herald, which has been around since 1903. For news stations, NBC 6, CBS 4, and ABC is WPLG Local 10. Music is diverse in Miami appealing to many different cultures and genres. Some of the most popular radio stations are 101.5 Lite FM, Power 96, and Magic 102.7. 

Why live in North Miami Beach, FL?

Other than the breathtaking beaches that are located along the Atlantic and intracoastal waterway on the East side of North Miami Beach, it’s just a fun place to live. If you enjoy the beach it’s within walking distance. There are many museums, gardens, and cultural places to visit. The art deco district of nearby South Beach is always fun to walk along and check out the gorgeous buildings. The population is around 45,000 people with the median income for a family being $35,000. Plus, if you like to shop, there are two ideal malls nearby, Aventura Mall and Bal Harbor Shops, an upscale open air shopping experience located just ten minutes South of apartments in North Miami Beach. 

What North Miami Beach landmarks should I see?

The history is rich in North Miami Beach. Some of the landmarks there are the historical Spanish Monastery, which is now an Episcopal church that many people visit each year. There are also many parks including Oleta River State Park and Greynolds Park. Both have bike trails and monuments that explain some of the history of the area. The nearest college is Johnson & Wales University which is only a few miles away in North Miami. 

What is there to do around North Miami Beach?

There are many things to do in the city entertainment-wise, including tasty restaurants and cafes featuring all kinds of cuisine, like Cuban and Asian food in an area that is considered their “Chinatown.” The beach is also popular for residents that live in apartments North Miami Beach, with water sports like surfing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and parasailing being fun activities. 

Any annual festivals or North Miami Beach events to know?

Festivals are popular all over Miami, but specifically in North Miami Beach three that are very popular with residents are the Snow Fest and Community Safety Day Parade in December, the Everglades Bluegrass Festival in January, and the Greynolds Love-In Party in the Park in March. 

Where are the nearby vacation spots?

There are many vacations opportunities for people that live in apartments in North Miami Beach. You can drive down to Everglades National Park in about an hour to see all the marsh lands and animals that inhabit this wild area. The start to the Florida Keys is also a little over an hour away. If family fun is on your agenda, it’s only a three-hour drive to Orlando to experience Walt Disney World Resorts and Universal Studio theme parks. 

Where is the best place to move in North Miami Beach?

In picking out North Miami Beach apartments, you’ll have a lot to choose from. Some of those include, Lazul North Miami Beach, the Arbors at Greynolds Park Apartments, and Aliro. All are luxury larger apartment style buildings that are right off US 1 and close to Maule Lake. Overall the area has a big city urban-feel with lots of amenities, shops, and restaurants right near your apartment.
