August 4, 2015Was looking for an affordable, no-frills apartment to get me through school, but Hornig Companies didn't meet my expectations. The management has made some nice improvements to the building (for example, coin-less laundry and a great new caretaker), but otherwise they've missed the mark. My unit was not cleaned at all when I moved in two years ago and I just never got over it. The caretaker at the time was really rude about it and did not have the place cleaned as promised. The current manager of ...the building made a great effort to make things right and offered to make some updates to my unit, but then proceeded to have my medicine cabinet removed without notifying me. I lost valuable storage space and felt that my privacy was invaded having someone go through my medicine cabinet and removing all my things without my consent. I'm moving out soon. If you decide to rent from this company, make sure that you communicate directly and clearly with the management about any concerns you have. Be aware that they make you pay a security deposit upon applying, so you don't have the option of backing out if they accept you (although I've noticed this has become a trend among other rental companies in the area as well).
