After the Gold Rush ended, the population in West Sacramento plateaued. It did not begin to grow again until the port of West Sacramento was opened, making it possible for deep-sea traffic to enter the state. This contributed to the growth of the region into what it is today.á

Even though West Sacramento, California is relatively close to the coast, it is not that humid. Furthermore, West Sacramento is relatively cool compared to the rest of California.
