Apartment-ites eager for a more upscale night on the town than your typical chain bar would do well to search out Halo. Before you ask, no it is not a first-person shooter themed establishment, nor is it decorated with angelic cherubs; rather, this Halo shines with a light of its own through pulsing rhythms and unique lighting schemes. Classy without delving into the realm of pretentious or absurdly expensive, Halo offers a ritzy club atmosphere minus the velvet rope exclusivity that ruins so many a good time. The drinks are well poured, with a large variety of middle-to-high level liquor brands available (the basement level bar features over 30 single malt scotches to choose from!), and the staff is as chic as the remarkable blown glass fixtures that adorn the space. A light food menu is also up for grabs. Ambient trip-hop is spun on the weekends throughout the twin lounge areas, and while many a couple is bound to get their groove on the music is not conversation-destroying. Still, for many Halo is a dish best served chilled, and 'off' nights such as Monday and Wednesday have become as hopping as the weekends for those in the know.
