Toledo Overview
"Toledo, Ohio, located on the Maumee River and just north of the Great Black Swamp giving it the nickname “Frog Town,” is one of the best-kept secrets in the United States. It is rich in culture, history, outdoor activities, and it all comes at a low cost of living. The friendly down-to-earth locals represent the city’s attitude and slogan “You will do better in Toledo."" Toledo is also known for its roots in the glass industry as the “Glass City” and home of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Plaza with a 50-by-4 foot glass mural as a reminder that Toledo is the center of the glass industry. With so much history and fun to be had by residents, it's no wonder so many find their perfect home among the many options in Toledo apartments."

In 1835, Toledo went to war because of a mapping dispute over the boundary lines between Michigan and Ohio. Much of present day Toledo falls in this strip of land, and it speaks to the strong character of those that built the city.

Toledo, OH Area Reviews
Cat • 2+ years in Toledo
May 7, 2025Toledo is a great place to live. Like any big city, it has all the modern amenities, but it also borders Lake Erie and is super close to Michigan and Indiana, making it easier to work in one of three states. Even better, the turnpike across northern Ohio comes through Toledo (super fast highway to get from there to the outskirts of Cleveland and down through Youngstown). Honestly, you can't beat the location.
