Sure, sitting in the air-conditioned comfort of your apartment is fine, but baseball simply demands you get to the stands once in a while. Take in the smell of the peanuts, cheer at the crack of the home team's bat, and battle your neighbor for that high fly ball. And regardless of where you used to reside, you're in Houston now baby, which makes you an Astros fan even if only by default. Housed in the enormous Minute Maid Park, don't expect to see much orange despite what the arena's name would have you believe. Red is the flag to fly for the Astros- elite, and recent remodeling reflects the crimson passion of their fans. As with most ballparks, there are a number of promotional nights in effect during which you can snag a complimentary baseball cap while taking in some fireworks. Thursdays hold a special appeal for the wiener enthusiast, offering a weekly all-you-can-eat ticket deal for the classic snack. Even in the off-season the Park offers behind-the-scenes tours for as little as $9 per person, making a perfect and memorable Father's Day or birthday gift. Customized jersey's are also available in the gift shop, as are a wide assortment of cards, framed photos and other memorabilia. So take that special someone out to the ballgame, buy them some peanuts or crackerjacks...aah, you know the drill.
