Write a ReviewMarietta city is the county seat of Cobb County in Georgia. It is one of the Atlanta metropolitan area’s largest suburbs. Marietta boasts of great schools, youth sports, shopping places, many activities to do, a wide variety of attractions, and a high quality of life for its residents. It’s a great place to settle and with plenty of apartments in Marietta available finding your new home is a snap.
Marietta was originally settled as a railroad hub back in the 1800s when the new Western and Atlantic Railroad and business in the area boomed. However, political issues led to the railroad’s management moving the hub from Marietta to an area that would later become Atlanta. However, Marietta shared in the prosperity of the railroad’s completion and grew alongside Atlanta.
Marietta experiences a humid subtropical climate. It receives an average 53 inches of rain and 26 inches of snow per year. There is an average of 217 sunny days per year in the city and summers can be quite hot with severe humidity. The winters are cold too with an average daily high temperature below 14 degrees.
Marietta is only 30 minutes north of the Atlanta Airport. The easiest way to get around and reach your destination is by car or taxi. You can also use public transportation by riding the MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority), and then using a CCT bus (Cobb Community Transit) to reach your destination.
Marietta is served by Interstate 75 and the U.S 41 or Cobb Parkway, which run north and south of the city. Both of these routes make commuting to any part of Marietta possible. Additionally, Interstate 85 is only 15 miles to the east. Rush hour traffic typically occurs on weekdays between 7 and 9 in the morning, and 4 to 6 in the evening.
Marietta is served by 2 daily newspapers, the Marietta Daily Journal and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, both published in Atlanta. Also, Cobb County as a whole has access to eight television stations and there are 2 local radio stations present.
Generally, Marietta is a great locality to settle in. With its reliable climate, good transportation, easy access to great schools, great social diversity, and good access to healthcare, the city is a perfect place to live in for a family. Plus, prices for apartments in this region are relatively low (typically in the range of $250,000 to $350000 for a 3-4 bedroom house). There are also plenty of activities and attractions to visit in the city.
The city of Marieta boasts of various landmarks and historical buildings that include, Marietta Square, Marietta Museum of History, Kennesaw Mountain, Sprayberry Rock, Marietta Welcome Center, and Smith Plantation Home among more.
The favorable climate in this region makes it perfect for outdoor activities. You can take a stroll around the city’s various museums for a taste of its history and culture. You can take your family out to various parks such as the Old Mill Park and nature trails such as the Bob Callan Trail for family fun-time and exercise. Also engage in indoor games such as karting and ice skating at the Marietta Ice Center.
There is a wide range of festivities and events for all to enjoy, be it couples, singles or families. One of the common festivities here is the Marietta Streetfest, which draws an estimated 12,000 people to the Marietta Square annually. Other major festivals include Art in the Park , Atlanta Oktoberfest , and the Christmas Tree Lighting event at the historic arietta square.
There are numerous attractions just minutes from Marietta that offers perfect vacation opportunities for Marieta residents. They include, Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca-Cola, Zoo Atlanta, Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Stone Mountain Park, Six Flags Over Georgia, Lake Lanier Islands, Chattahoochee Nature Center, and the Children’s Museum of Atlanta among more.
If you are looking for an apartments in Marietta to settle in, there are different areas that can suit your preferences best depending on the type of living you are looking for. The apartments to the north of the city in Buckhead are more expensive as this is where the governor and celebrities live. Some estates there are typically castles and so are the schools too. Further north is the Dunwoody area which is not quite as splash as Buckhead, but still cool and relatively expensive. Get an experienced local real estate agent and have them search for you the ideal Marietta apartment to fit all your preferences.
