If an apartment-ite in Atlanta is stuck without a bar to frequent, they're just not looking hard enough. Atlanta is full of bars, pubs, dives and clubs for folks to get their drink on, so the hard part is not finding a bar, but instead choosing the one that is right for you. If you want a bar with one of the biggest beer lists in town, and can handle a little trip into the bizarre, then take over The Vortex. One of the most bizarre bars in town, with over 30 beers on tap, and 120 waiting in bottles, there are few better options for those looking for a great night out. The moment you walk up to Vortex, you know you're in for something a bit different. For one thing, the entrance to the place is a gaping skull with wild swirling eyes, and once you step inside it only gets weirder. The walls are covered with every crazy decoration you could imagine, from old license plates, to moose heads, to skeletons on bicycles, and everything in between. It's also hard not to notice the gorgeous, leather-clad ladies who work the place, recalling the pin-ups girls of days gone by. Once you get over your shock and awe, a whole new world of beverage bliss awaits you, where the hardest part is choosing from all of the excellent drink options. If you're a beer fan, you'll be taken care of at the Vortex, with plenty of domestics, imports and specialties on tap and in bottle, with some of the biggest selection in the city. Normal domestics such as Bud and Miller mix in with unique domestics such as Magic Hat #9, Flying Dog Double Dog Double Pale Ale, and Terrapin Rye, and those are just the ones on tap. When it comes to domestic bottles, there's no end to the wide array of flavors to savor. There are also any number of fantastic imports for you to try and love. Fans of spirits can celebrate as well, with 72 different varieties of single-malt scotch, 35 different brands of Vodka, and 31 varieties of cordials. Wine fans are left out either, with a fine selection of whites and reds for your imbibing. When it comes to food, you've got to try their world-famous burgers. Though they offer the original flavor, there are also a number of different variations, such as Elvis Burger, covered in peanut butter and fried bananas, the Spanish Fly Burger, with spicy chorizo, green chiles and pepperjack cheese, and the Coronary Bypass burger, topped with a fried egg, three slices of American cheese, four strips of bacon, and plenty of mayo. You can also get the Double Bypass burger, which includes all of that, plus two grilled cheese sandwiches instead of bread.. It may take some getting used to, but once you're inside and have tasted their delicious burgers and downed one of their many varieties of beer, spirits or wine, you won't ever want to leave. Atlanta apartment residents looking to spice up their bar experience need only take a trip to The Vortex Bar and Grill.
