Don't fear getting spooked at the 13th Floor, a trendy bar and lounge located in the Belvedere Hotel in downtown. The shadowy interior, a beautiful, long dark wood bar and blood red carpeting could get to you possibly if you were alone, but the general atmosphere here is happy and bright, and is no scarier than your Baltimore apartment, we hope. With local bands playing boogie-woogie danceable music, and a great music sound when they're not, there's nothing frightful here on the Thirteenth Floor. The live music packs in quite a crowd, and no wonder, with Mama Jama, Mambo Cambo, Jah Works and Kelly Bell some of the acts to be featured here. Other new names on the music circuit appear here, so call the bar if you're planning a trip with your fellow apartment-ites. If you've come hungry, you're in luck, because 13th Floor serves up delicious gourmet oven-baked pizzas, sandwiches and salads, and a few yummy desserts. If you just want to stop by on your way home to your Baltimore apartment, happy hour is Wednesday to Friday, 5 pm to 8pm, with $3 imports, rail drinks and drafts. The cover charge is $5 most nights after 10 pm. The bar is open Wednesday through Saturday, 5 pm to 2 am, and is closed Sunday through Tuesday. The Belvedere, which is one of the most attractive, well-preserved, and distinguished historic buildings in Baltimore, was purchased in part by Tom and Nancy Stuehler. They own and operate a few condominiums, a retail space in the lobby, three bridal suites and office space as well as the complete twelfth floor; housing "The Grand Ballroom" and "The Platinum Room." The neighborhood location is perfect for seeing all the old-style, Georgian buildings and the lamp lined streets. A bit of trivia here, most hotels, worldwide, have no "13th floor." If you will notice on every hotel you've been in that is over 12 floors, there is no room 1308, and no button for "13" on the elevator. Does your Baltimore apartment complex have a 13th floor?
