The city was named Grape Vine as a homage to the wild Mustang grapes that grew plentifully in the area. Later in 1914, the post office combined the two words to have one-word name for the city.

The weather in Grapevine is generally warm with the highest temperatures recorded in summer. The temperatures drop during winter, but snowing is not experienced in this city as it happens in other American cities. Therefore, it is a place one can spend the entire year without the need to relocate to warmer areas in winter.
How do I get around town?
People in the city can easily move about. Running through the city are state highways 121 and 114. Highway 121 enters the city from the south while 114 come in from the northwest and the two intersect near William D. Tate Ave. and Mustang Drive.

The highways split again close to the entrance to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. From 2010 to 2014, highways in the city underwent a major overhaul to improve traffic flow.
