What is the history of Phoenix?
For centuries, this area of Arizona was occupied by the Hohokam peoples, a large groups of tribes that developed an extensive canal system throughout the area. By the 1180s, the development of the railroad caused the area to grow large enough to warrant becoming the state’s capital.
