Write a ReviewOfficially a northern suburb of Dallas, Lewisville is one of the fastest-growing cities in the entire nation and with good cause. Combining a steady job market, easy access to a number of schools, and plenty of Texas hospitality to spare, an apartment in Lewisville might just be what the doctor ordered.
Initially dubbed Holford's Prarie, this Texas city saw humble beginnings in the mid-1840s. The city was home to one of the Lone Star State's first cotton gins. Officially incorporated as Lewisville in 1925, the lake of the same name was completed a mere 25 years later, leading Lewisville to experience a drastic rise in populace. Lewisville hosted the Texas International Pop Festival in the 1960s, a largescale event that rivaled Woodstock, and the addition of the Dallas / Ft. Worth Airport just south of the city in 1974 cemented Lewisville apartments as highly desirable real estate.
Considered humid subtropical in nature, residents of Lewisville apartments can expect hot, lengthy summers and mild winters. Extreme weather tends to be rare, with Lewisville avoiding much of the 'tornado alley' symptoms that plague nearby Oklahoma.
Lewisville boasts a stop on the A Train system, leading commuters direct to Dallas, and the noted airport offers flights to just about anywhere one can imagine. Bus service and taxis are relatively easy to encounter, and while most residents claim ownership of a car or truck, bicycling remains a popular mode of transportation in the city.
While Lewisville itself is generally a minimal traffic city, the surrounding Dallas area can experience heavy gridlock and almost constant road construction delays. Many residents working in Dallas choose to utilize the A Train for this reason, with prime time commuter traffic generally heavy on most work days. I-35 is the primary roadway, although Texas State Highway 121 is also used quite a bit.
The 'Lewisville Leader' acts as the primary local newspaper, although the 'Dallas Morning News' is also very popular among residents of Lewisville apartments. Just about every major broadcasting affiliate is locally represented, including FOX and CBS, with the airwaves populated by a mix of pop, country and classic rock for the most part.
With easy access to both the large cities of Denton and Dallas, Lewisville apartments make an ideal place for working class professionals, students and young families to call home. Bursting with amenities yet mere miles from pure Texas wildlife and scenery, this 'little big city' truly offers the best of both worlds.
The Old Towne Station arts center has evolved into a world-class performance space, boasting a Steinway piano and numerous unique performances throughout the year. Scion Skate Park is an excellent place to watch pro and armature boarders catch some air, and Lewisville is a mere handful of miles away from the notorious grassy knoll and book depository building of the JFK assassination.
A number of public parks are in close proximity to apartments in Lewisville, and the city remains a shining star in the Dallas golfing community, with Hank Haney Golf Ranch and others calling the area home. Grab the kids and take in some roller coaster fun at Six Flags, spend an afternoon exploring the nearby Dallas Aquarium, or simply enjoy some conversation and drinks at one of the many pubs and night spots that dot the downtown scene.
Western Days is far and away the most popular festival in Lewisville, offering crafts, live music and bbq annually and drawing huge crowds. The Best Little Brewfest is a relatively new event catering to the tasty suds, while the nearby American Made Festival focuses upon handcrafted goods.
While the big city excitement of Dallas is a no-brainer, those looking for more vacation options won't have to search far. Head south to the live music mecca of Austin, or spend a weekend touring the shops and nightclubs of the nearby college town Denton. Amarillo is a mere four hours away, Palo Duro Canyon just to its north and an amazing place to sight-see and explore. Plenty of camping options are at the disposal of Lewisville apartment residents as well.
Commuters to Dallas tend to reside close to the south part of Lewisville, making A Train access easy. Students generally flock to the north and west, offering easy proximity to Denton, although one can literally find all walks of life throughout Lewisville. Regardless of where you decide to call home, this welcoming Texas city is sure to please. Happy hunting!
