Apartment living in Houston is a blast, but it can sometimes be difficult to choose a place that is just right for you on any particular night. You want a bar, but you want delicious food. You want somewhere to dance the night away, but you don't want to miss the big game. You want refreshing drinks, but you don't want to break the bank to do it. Have no fear, apartment-ite, The Derrick Tavern gives you all this and more, creating one of the best bar experiences in the Houston area. To try to walk out of this place without a smile on your face. With polished wood tables, beautiful framed pictures of the great days of oil, and a huge bar, the beauty of the Derrick is enough to leave you speechless. It's upscale without being pretentious, being able to combine the feel of the high-class with the feel of a neighborhood bar, without feeling schizophrenic or lost. The wait staff is pleasant, and the bartenders are friendly, and know just how to make whatever it is you'd like. A real plus is that the place draws in some of the prettiest people in all of Houston, so if you're looking to score a hottie, this is just the place for your hunting. A bar is nothing without its drinks and drink specials, and The Derrick delivers in spades here. The alcohol is always cold and strong, and never watered down, and the prices are very affordable as well. Each night of the week has an awesome drink special, and you can get even better deals if you stop by during happy hour. On Mondays there's an all-you-can-eat chili dog buffet to enjoy while you watch the big game on the Derrick's gigantic flat-screen TV, while enjoying $14 domestic buckets. Tuesday has a free fajita buffet, $3 Mexican beer and $1.75 Margaritas. For the ladies, Thursday is the best day of the week to arrive, with free buffet, $3 Martinis, $3 Wines, $2 Wells and domestics. If you want a real treat, hop in Saturday for live music with no cover.
