If you've just spent hours in your Charlotte apartments balancing your checkbook or refreshing your online banking statement, maybe the last thing you'd want to see is an entire store shilling Bank of America-branded products. But this is no joke: aside from the cheesy gifts, there are several small artifacts, information plaques and mini exhibits to showcase the fact that Charlotte is where Bank of America really started. The store is right in the middle of N Tryon St, in the city's First Ward district, and benefits from being in such a busy area, as a fair amount of visitors do take a peek in there. The place sells everything from mugs, umbrellas, sweatshirts, stationery and books, and despite the immediate cringe factor, it's a nice surprise to know that they're actually well-made. Admittedly, it's difficult to imagine anyone actually buying anything, except for the kitsch value (or to try to sweet-talk your local branch manager if you're an apartment-ite living outside the area). Since the center is right downtown, it's not too out of the way to get to, so if you're in desperate need of an umbrella or calendar for your accountant buddy, this is a pretty interesting place from which to get it.
